Why I’m a proud graduate of UNLV …
When I arrived to a very warm welcome on UNLV campus (Fall of 1990), it was the first time I left the country of my birth, India. I was the first in my family to pursue higher education in a foreign country and it was the first time I ever got on an airplane. With a sense of excitement, I made three stops in three different countries, and flew for two days to reach Las Vegas.
Along with the warm welcome and friendly environment, I am forever grateful to the School of Engineering for easing my financial concerns with a graduate assistantship. I was given the chance to teach and research for the first time and the invaluable opportunity to interact and work with diverse ideas.
I left the campus with more than a Master’s degree. I left with a sense of achievement, pride and the confidence to find my own way. Twenty-five years after all those firsts at UNLV, whenever I reflect at my family, my career and my own growth, I feel an immense amount of gratitude and pride that I have made good use of the opportunities UNLV gave me. Thank you. I’m a Rebel forever!!!
